Participants
Athletes: Six (6) travelling team members, one (1) non-travelling named alternate
Coaches: Two (2) travelling team coaches, one (1) non-travelling named alternate.
Classification
Athletes:
Male athletes must be a minimum of 12 years old during the year of the Games and a maximum of 19 years old during the year of the Games (2023).
MAG athletes must be born between 2004 to 2011 inclusive.
Eligibility
Athletes:
All athletes must meet the eligibility regulations outlined in CGC’s Eligibility Policy.
Excluded from the Canada Games are:
• Senior National Team Members - Defined as: Athletes who have held an SR, SR1, SR2 or C1* card at any time; and/or athletes who are part of (on the roster of) a standing Senior National Team (i.e., recognized as a Senior National Team member regardless of event participation)
• Athletes who have previously competed at the following events:
• Senior World Championships
• Senior Pan American Games
• Olympic Games
• Commonwealth Games
• FISU Games
No athlete can be rendered ineligible within 90 days of the opening of the Games due to National Team status, carding status or competing in an excluded event (i.e., if an athlete is granted National Team status for the first time, carding status or competes in an excluded event after November 20, 2022, they will still be considered eligible to compete at the 2023 Canada Games).
* Athletes who hold a C1 card (as defined by Sport Canada’s Athlete Assistance program) or are in their first year of Senior National Team status may be deemed eligible on a case-by-case basis. Requests must be submitted to the respective P/T Team Chef de Mission and approved by the Canada Games Council’s Eligibility Committee.
Coaches:
All coaches (head & assistant) registered in the Canada Games electronic registration system must be certified under the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Competition 3 (Development) Certified* in artistic gymnastics.
Coaches must be so certified no later than 90 days prior to the opening ceremony (November 20, 2022).
MAG coaches must be MAG certified, unless an exemption is granted by the MAG Program Manager.
Please note that “NCCP Competition 3 (Development) Certified, Not Renewed” does not qualify under the coaching standards for the 2023 Canada Winter Games.
*If there are delays with the transfer of qualifications from Level 3 to Competition 3 (Development), exemptions will be granted to coaches who have completed all requirements.
All coaches must abide by all GymCan policies and procedures and its Code of Ethics and be a coach in good standing with GymCan. Coaches must also have fulfilled Gym Can’s risk management requirements including an up-to-date criminal record check and completion of Respect in Sport, True Sport Clean 101, and Making Headway.
GymCan to review and update requirements (NCCP and Risk Management) as required.

Competitions
Regulations:
The following will govern the competition (MAG):
• Current GymCan MAG Program Technical Regulations
• Current FIG Code of Points and current updates/newsletters/clarifications
• The Canada Games rules will be those set for the Open category in effect for the 2023 Canadian Championships with the following supplemental additions:
• In preliminary competition only 1 vault will be performed
• In event finals only 1 vault will be performed.
• Gymnasts will have the option of 125 cm to 135 cm vault table height
• Gymnasts will have the option of lowering the Pommel Horse, or using a beat board to mount the apparatus
• The 2022-2024 FIG Code of Points for situations not covered by the first two documents
Program:
The Canada Winter Games program for Men’s Artistic Gymnastics will consist of the following:
• Team (CI) (Format 6-6-4)
• Individual All-Around Final (CII) (Max 3 per Province/Territory)
• Apparatus Finals (CIII) (Max 2 per Province/Territory)
Ontario MAG Canada Winter Games Team Trials
Date: December 9, 2023
Location: Gymnastics Energy, St. Catharines
Registration: Via Gymnastics Ontario Uplifter
Opens on Monday October 31, 2022.
Deadline is on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
Registration Fee is $110 per athlete.
Notes: This competition will short list the MAG Team. The top twelve (12) athletes, based on their All-Around standings, and their coach will be invited to the Final Team Selection Camp (see below).
There are no petitions allowed for Team selection events.
Ontario MAG Canada Winter Games Final Team Selection Camp
Date: January 26, 2023
Location: East York Gymnastics Club
Registration: Via Gymnastics Ontario Uplifter
Opens on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
Deadline is on Thursday, January 12, 2022.
Registration Fee is $110 + HST per athlete and $20 + HST per coach (HST 12212 5131 RT0001).
Notes:
This event will be the final CWG team selection. This will be a judged competition.
Athletes will be selected based on their All-Around rank for Team positions from 1st to 5th. The 6th place position will be determined using the GCG software for determining the athlete who has the highest contribution to the Team score.
The non-travelling alternate will be the athlete in 7th place.
Team Coach Selection:
The Team Coach and the Coach / Manager will also be selected or finalized at this event based on the point system below.
In the MAG Program, the Team Coach/Manager positions are awarded to the coaches, not to the club.
The selection criteria are as follows:
• Eligible coaches will be ranked by the points they accumulate from their named athlete’s, taken from the latest competition registration form received by Gymnastics Ontario up to three (3) days before the event.
• Coaches’ points are not transferable to another coach from the same club.
• If two coaches have been listed on the registration form, only the first named coach will be awarded points.
• The coach with the highest total points will be named as the Team Coach/Manager.
• If the named Team Coach/Manager cannot accept their role, the Team Coach/Manager, the position will be awarded to next coach on the Team Coach/Manager ranking list
• In the event of a tie, the coach with the highest-ranking athlete will be named.

Pre-Canada Winter Games Training Camp

Notes:
Includes the mandatory training provided by the Team Ontario Mission Staff. All nominated athletes, coaches and managers must participate in and complete this mandatory training.
Canada Winter Games
Date: CWG Artistic Gymnastics competitions are from February 20 to 25, 2023
- Departure on February 17 and return on February 27, 2023

Personal coaches - Personal coaches are able to attend as spectators.
Forms
All other forms must be scanned and uploaded upon registration in Uplifter. Please upload only one (1) form at a time (ie. DO NOT BUNDLE all the documents in a single PDF - that will invalidate the registration). Please save and title each form individually with the athlete/coach's name and form name (ie. Stretch, Suzie - GO Waiver).
Clubs are responsible for collecting all of the forms from parents.

Please note, each of these certifications and documents are mandatory and participation in the 2023 Canada Winter Games is contingent upon each Team Ontario member completing their required certifications.
Team Ontario Apparel
Team Ontario Apparel comes from Canada Games Council (team gear for on-site, travel, opening/closing ceremonies etc).
The competition attire (track jacket, singlets, longs and shorts) from Gymnastics Ontario and Jagwear.

Sizing for both is done on-site at CWG Trials #2. Jackets orders are not taken on-site (need to be completed through the club's Uplifter account later) but Jagwear leotard orders are completed on-site.

Team Ontario jackets must be worn on the competition floor. Jackets must be ordered online here under our Purchase Products Page. This process/purchase is separate from the individual's registration but recommends adding the jacket to the same invoice as team confirmation.
Pants are not included. All delegates must wear PLAIN BLACK PANTS (no logos, design, etc.) with a tracksuit jacket.
Alternates have the option to purchase a track jacket ($80 +HST).

There are five (5) Team Ontario Singlets:

*kit is comprised of different products which are sized differently so select the size that best matches based on the sizing provided.
Reminder - that even if things don’t fit or don’t like the pieces all pieces still need to bring to CWG with you.
Reminder - Athletes and coaches can try to trade amongst themselves first for pieces that don't fit as desired but if pieces are unworn they can be exchanged on-site (if quantities allow).
